Out then spak the Queen o Fairies,
And an angry woman was she,
"Shame betide her ill-far'd face,
And an ill death may she die,
For she's taen awa the bonniest knight
In a' my companie.
Personally I'm not a fan of the modern day idea of fairys, the glitter, the pink, the wings does nothing for me. They don't seem magical or neat, I guess I'm rather like Hoggle about them. Yet while I was going through my odds and ends I found some unfinished projects that I was now missing bits of and decided that if put all together they would make a rather neat "fairy" costume that I could wear when the weather hit 80+ degrees at the Ren faire.
My brain however started being picky, I didn't want to do the skirt and corset look. I wanted something more organic and woodland looking but at the same time a bit ethereal. So I thought about what fairy or fey or Sidhe is to me. It isn't glitter and pink it is moss and lichen and cracked river rocks. Trees with roots thicker then my wrist that have twisted down to the center of the earth with age. Its blood and copper. its Morgoth's curse upon the Children of Hurin. Don't eat the fairy food, don't go about the church wittershin, and never ever tick off the Sidhe.

I had some sheer moss colored polyester that has a wonderful drape, but not much of it and some odd cut scraps so I started to drape it and then edge it with silver thread to keep it from fraying. I found bits of fake leather and started layering and over lapping it and sewing it down until it was almost a bodice but not exactly.

I know I want to etch or paint on the fake leather with silver but I'm still undecided as to what. I don't want it to look like leaves painted on and celtic knotwork while pretty is a bit too uniform.
