My inspiration dress from the Met

The pattern I’m using for the skirt I found on Pinterest,

What the back of the bodice currently looks like, I decided on a swallow-tail back. More inspiration pictures and trimming ideas can be found on my Penny Dreadful Costume pin board.

Really enjoying all your posts on this, I've totally been bitten by the Penny Dreadful costume bug!

Yay! I have plenty more posts to come. Usually I power sew through things and forget to post about it, or get weirdly self-conscious when writing posts out. I'm attempting to get over this/document my steps a bit more. A skirt post may be next as most of it is together.

Once this project is done I am tempted to recreate (or close to it) the Met dress. I have some silk taffeta which would work splendidly for it. All the hand sewn braiding however is a different story...
